ABOUT

Should I pay an hourly rate or a flat rate? It depends.

Ultimately, it is up to you -- some clients are more comfortable paying hourly, others prefer a flat monthly rate. I let you choose.

Some clients only need minimal, one-time, or annual services, such as chart of accounts setup, catching up several years of bookkeeping for taxes, Quickbooks training to manage your own books, or maybe you keep your receipts in a shoebox all year and only ever need help organizing them for your CPA at tax time each year. For minimal upkeep, one-time, annual, or project-based work, it makes most sense to hire me at an hourly rate.

Flat-rate pricing works best for established clients who need ongoing services, such as day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable and accounts receivable, monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, etc. Although the work may fluctuate slightly from one month to the next, it maintains a steady average so your price remains the same, and we both understand what to expect.

How do you determine the flat rate for my business?

Flat rates are tiered based on the average range of hours worked per week, and are billed as a monthly retainer.

FLAT RATES

Flat-rate tiers are for ongoing services for established clients who want to know what to expect each month, and are billed monthly based on the range of hours worked per week, up to 20 hours per week.

Beyond 20 hours per week, I will recommend you hire an in-house bookkeeper. This allows you to maintain more internal control, and also allows me time to commit to my other clients.

For ongoing services that are minimal, such as once per month, or once per quarter,  it may make more sense to hire me on an hourly basis.

My story

A CPA candidate with a Master of Accountancy from Belmont University, I began my career with over 5 years in public accounting in the entertainment industry in Nashville, as both a tax accountant and business manager to high profile entertainers. During that time, I also provided pro bono bookkeeping services to a local nonprofit yoga studio, while pursuing various fitness certifications.

While I call Nashville home, the COVID-19 pandemic briefly brought me back to North Carolina to be closer to family, where I started Compass Accounting to provide bookkeeping and tax services to small businesses and individuals.

For fun, I use my undergraduate degree in Communication to manage social media for a local fitness studio, where I teach fitness classes online. I also enjoy staying involved in the music industry, and keeping my finger on the pulse of the Nashville real estate market.
